Red Rose Rampant

The Annual "WAR OF THE ROSES" DTL EVENT took place this year at North of England CTC at Rufforth and resulted in a win for the Lancashire visitors over their deadly rivals and the possession of the Subaru Trophy for the coming year.
In a fiercely fought battle the Lancashire team amassed a total of 6456 points to Yorkshires 6407. The scores were based on 15 seniors, 3 Ladies,4 vets and one Junior. The above rules were posted on the score board at the time of the shoot, although these may not be the normal rules that the competition had been based on in the past but in order to resurrect the "WAR" it had been decided on the above rules based on the number of competitors on the day. Although i guess the rematch will be based on the more familiar format - although in the spirit of competition all scores were to count throughout the squad.
The high gun of the day had to be sorted with a shoot off - between Paul Chaplow (Yorks) and Young Bob Singleton (Lancs)
Paul Chaplow shot earlier in the day on the second wave and produced a magnificent score of 100/299 after barrelling his 100th!!!! - This was followed by Bobs on the 4th wave - Bob barrelling his 45th clay to also give 100/299. The shoot off produced a win for Lancashire's Bob Singleton 24/72 to Pauls 24/70. All the competitors received a commemorative badge for their efforts ( and an inner glow of satisfaction at having put one over on the "old enemy").
Well shot to everyone who took part. Roll on the next War!
